Our house
The house was built in 1980 and was designed by the architect Bengt Edman who originally designed it for his brother. It has three bedrooms: one with a double bed 210 x 200 cm, one with a single bed 105 x 200, and one with a single bed 90 x 200. There are two bathrooms, one with a tub and shower and one with a shower. There are two fireplaces and an old iron stove. As there are many stairs and levels it is not well suited for small kids. The garden is small but there is plenty of room for meals and barbecuing.  One part of our garden is fenced in.

Us
Eva is 49 and Rolf is 66. We both work with translations, although Rolf is officially retired. Eva is interested in dog sports, and Rolf loves digital photography and bicycling.

We have two dogs, one 3.5 years old Danish-Swedish Farmdog called Kasper, and one 0.5 years old Labrador Retriever called Lakrits. We would like to bring them with us for our home swap.

Vallentuna
The township of Vallentuna is inhabited by 30 000 people and 1 500 horses about 30 km north of Stockholm in mostly rural and pastoral surroundings. Our house, however, is situated about 5 minutes walk from the center with well over 50 shops: grocery stores, wine shop, pharmacy, library, medical care, a fabulous artisan bakery, cafés, pizzerias, a sushi place, a couple of restaurants, banks and ATM's, etc.

Even closer is the railway and bus station; there are four trains to Stockholm every hour plus buses. The train takes 25–30 minutes, the bus somewhat longer.
Arlanda Airport is about 25 minutes away by car, but the air corridor does not pass over Vallentuna.

Surroundings
The countryside is mostly farmland, forests, fields, and lakes, and is comparatively flat. The many small roads are ideal för biking and there is plenty of opportunity for hiking (or jogging) in the woods; everyone is entitled by Swedish law to ramble on all land and fields as well as pick berries and mushrooms. The Baltic sea and its archipelago is close but if you do not care for a chilly swim we recommend some of the many lakes or the nearby public pool. The closest lake Vallentunasjön is not suited for swimming, but ideal for winter skating.

There are many golf courses!

Culture
There are many medieval churches in the surrounding villages. The countryside is full of memories from the viking age in the form of runestones carved in the viking “alphabet”, the futhark – in fact more than in any other part of Sweden.

A bit farther away
Apart for the city of Stockholm there are many quaint towns to visit nearby. We recommend Waxholm and Norrtälje by the sea, Sigtuna and Uppsala. The archipelago is of course a must. And perhaps you would dare a cruise to Finland or Estonia?
